We (Kelly and Judy) decided to see if we could scare up some breakfast on the riva - a promenade recently built along the waterfront. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and we found a nice looking patio that served granola and yogurt, so we indulged.
By the time breakfast was over, it was almost noon, so we decided to take a walk along the Riva towards the marina. Riva is short for Croatian National Revival Embankment and was built to mixed reviews; many think its modern design with white sail and streelights clashes with the Roman palace.
We then decided to investigate a statue that we had passed several times. It turns out Marko Marulic was a Croatian Christian humanist from the 15th century who coined the definition of psychology, which is still in use today.
We then ambled about the city, popping into the little boutiques and checking out the latest Croatian fashions. One of Croatia's big exports is lavender, so we wanted to find a nice shop that sold goods made from the fragrant flower. We found a little shop within the palace walls that sold all sorts of gourmet lavender products as well as liqueurs and olive oils. We filled up on lavender soaps, oils and tea (Kelly even found lavender scratch and sniff scented postcards).
We relaxed at a cafe and then headed back to the apartment to wait for Ron before we went for dinner. Ron came back at around 1800hrs having received a thumbs up from the doctor - his elbow was healing nicely, but he would have to see the doctor in Ljubljana to get his stitches out. After a tasty meal with another delicious bottle of Croatian white wine, we headed back and hit the hay.

You had me at lavender:-)
